Description

In the framework of the conference series "Paroles Menacées", the CREG (Centre de Recherche sur l'Expérience de Guerre) is delighted to invite you to the public event "Reframing the Armenian-Azerbaijani Past: What can scholars do?" that will take place on

Thursday February 9, 2023 - 19.00 - 21.00

at Université Libre de Bruxelles, Somville Room, Avenue Jeanne 44, Building S, 2nd floor

The event will feature a panel discussion with Vicken Cheterian (Université de Genève), Altay Goyushov (Baku Research Institute), Fatma Müge Göçek (University of Michigan) and Laurence Broers (Chatham House). The discussion will be moderated by Aude Merlin (CREG/MSH, CEVIPOL/ULB).

What role did scholars and intellectuals play in the genesis and onset of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict? What could - or should - scholars and intellectuals be doing today to transform the conflict? What lessons could be learned from similar efforts to bridge the Armenian-Turkish divide?

In addressing these questions, the panel will explore the implications, and the possible impacts, of pursuing a critical discussion on the history of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations in the current global environment.

The discussion will be followed by a networking and socialising drink.

Please RSVP by February 7 via the link below in comment. Registration is mandatory.
