Armenia’s human rights defender expressed his serious concerns over the extradition of Alexander Lapshin to Azerbaijan as he met with EU Special Representative for South Caucasus and Crisis in Georgia Herbert Zabler in Brussels.
Arman Tatoyan condemned the Azerbaijani authorities’ decision to prosecute the Israeli-Russian blogger, calling attention to its possible negative impact. He said the recent developments should be a good reason to attract more active visits to Nagorno-Karabakh, reports the ombudsman’s press service.
Tatoyan also addressed the Azerbaijani armed forces’ attempted incursion into the border village Chinari in late December and early January, briefing the EU official on the subsequent fact-finding activities initiated by his office.
